Bereavement Training

Grieving the loss of a child is different than the grief experienced after other losses; this training will cover topics specific to issues experienced by parents who are grieving the loss of a baby.

Topics covered include:

  • Alternatives to Stage Theory
  • Secondary Losses
  • Guilt, Shame and Blame
  • Unrecognized Grief
  • Support Groups and Peer Support
  • Growing through Grief
  • Case studies which illustrate each topic will be examined

6.5 Social Worker CEUs will be offered for this training.

Please park in the lot behind the building accessible from Devlin off West Park. There is also parking available behind Taco Bell accessible from Hampton. Please DO NOT park on West Park, that is residential parking. The office entrance is the last door on the side of the building facing West Park.

Trainer Bio:

Lori Behrens

Lori holds a BS degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in Special Education and received her Masters in Social Work from Washington University. She is now a licensed clinical social worker. Lori has been employed by Infant Loss Resources (formerly SIDS Resources) for 20 years and was the Executive Director for the last 12 years. Prior to assuming the Executive Director position, Lori served as the Family Support Program Director. Lori has worked as an infant development therapist, and as a licensed counselor. Lori has coordinated family support services for Infant Loss Resources as well as other non-profit organizations. In her work for Infant Loss Resources, Lori has coordinated outreach and education activities, with an emphasis on Safe Sleep for babies, throughout the state of Missouri. Infant Loss Resources was designated a “Safe Sleep Champion” by the National Institute of Child Health and Development in 2012.
