(June 10, 2021) – The Harris-Stowe State University Community Impact Network Education Center was awarded the Commitment Award at the 2021 Moonshot LaunchCode Awards on Friday, June 4, 2021.
The 2021 Moonshot Awards ceremony took place at City Foundry STL where Jackie Joyner-Kersee hosted the event and announced the award winners.
“The LaunchCode Moonshot Award was a startling surprise and an honor for the HSSU Impact Education Center team. The category of "commitment" was huge. During this COVID-19 climate, it has not been easy to fill the building with the programming we plan to implement. It is gratifying to know others see the effort and passion the team is putting in to ensure the Education Center will have a significant impact on the community we serve," Dr. Aline Phillips, Director of the Harris-Stowe State University Community Impact Network Education Center, said.
According to LaunchCode, community members nominated finalists in this category for flat-out working hard, without compromise, and not backing down in the face of tough odds.
“The Harris-Stowe State University Community Impact Network Education Center serves as a bridge for students to higher education and job training opportunities. We are proud of the impact our community partners continue to make on the communities they serve,” Robert M. Gioia, Chief Executive Officer of the Community Impact Network, said.
The LaunchCode’s Moonshot Awards recognize the efforts of St. Louis’ trailblazers, which are those who work toward new solutions to better the community. According to their website, the 2021 Moonshot nominees try new innovative, audacious measures to move the St. Louis region forward.
